Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14, 1980) was an American actress, singer as well as a dancer. Her initial performances on Broadway include in the musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. She received an award from the Tony Award for Best Featured actor in the Play to play Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford is a veteran of the majority of her career collaborating with acclaimed actors and directors across theatre and on television. she continues that award-winning project with various upcoming ones. Ashford's next venture will be a limited edition Hulu series called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show will premiere on the 22nd of November and Ashford plays opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford is currently in production for Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust which stars Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film will be released as an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford will be seen as Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre during the march 2023 revival of Stephen Sondheims Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton is the director of the show. Ashford most recently starred Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment based on the national crisis that swept into Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters as the nation's first impeachment trial in more than 100 years. Her two-season stint on the CBS show B Positive was her first major role. She also appeared in the hit series created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, with legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Not a stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her character Essie. Her additional Broadway roles includes Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the originating role of Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she was awarded a second Tony Award nomination. Ashford divides her time between Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver & raised there.
